Use of portable oxygen cylinders or oxygen cans can be dangerous

According to Doctors, portable oxygen cylinders and oxygen cans do not need to be kept at home. This may not work for corona patients. Use of portable oxygen cylinders or oxygen cans can be dangerous.

Portable oxygen cylinders and oxygen cans are already being sold at various local drug stores and e-commerce websites. Corona panic has also increased its demand in the market. Many people are buying it and leaving it at home.

Doctors say that in case of corona infection, the level of oxygen in the blood suddenly decreases, so the patient needs immediate oxygen support from outside. In this situation, many people have decided to keep oxygen cylinders at home. According to doctors, this type of portable oxygen cylinder is not effective in corona patients. Corona patients in the hospital are given oxygen by HFNO (High-Flow Nasal Oxygen) therapy.

This method takes an average of 20 to 40 liters of oxygen per minute. But the portable oxygen cylinders that are being sold in the market hold 10 to 18 liters of oxygen. Which in no way is suitable for corona patients. In the case of corona patients in the hospital, the HFNO (High-Flow Nasal Oxygen) carries an average of 1200 to 2400 liters of oxygen per hour in the patient's body but the large cylinder available in the home market contains only 1072 liters of oxygen.

According to the Doctors, keeping more than one oxygen cylinder at home will not be effective in the case of corona patients. In the case of corona patients, there will be no more time to install an oxygen cylinder after the end of an oxygen cylinder.

According to Physician Dr.Diptendra Sarkar, in the case of corona patients, the method by which oxygen is supplied to the patient's body is not possible in such a portable oxygen cylinder. If this can be done with small things, the patient is likely to be cardiac arrest or respiratory arrest. If the level of oxygen in the body is low, it is necessary to consult a doctor and if the level of oxygen is less than 90, it is necessary to be admitted to the hospital.

According to Physician Dr.Narayan Banerjee, in the case of corona patients, the oxygen requirement can suddenly increase from 2 liters to 10 liters per minute. This type of portable oxygen cylinder will not last more than 15 minutes in any way so there is no reason to worry about leaving it at home. This type of portable oxygen cylinder is being used for business, there is no scientific basis to keep them at home, he said.
